Language Wise has been set up by Dr. Kate Rowley and the aim of Language Wise is to provide information to parents, practitioners and community members about language.

Dr. Kate believes it is important for everyone to understand more about how language develops and how people communicate. This is because language and communication skills are fundamental skills.

Having such skills enables individuals to go on to develop other skills such as cognitive and social skills. Furthermore, having good language skills, in either spoken or sign language, gets children ready for the school environment and to learn literacy skills.

There will be workshops on a wide range of topics including; linguistics, sociolinguistics, language acquisition, literacy development, introduction to phonics, bi/multilingualism and cognitive development. Additional workshops can be set up if requested.
